NZ TRAVEL TIPS
The Bay of Plenty Region
This region is blessed with a moderate climate and fertile land ideal for growing the iconic kiwifruit. The cosmopolitan city of Tauranga is one of the fastest growing areas in New Zealand, and it offers waterfront cafes, boutique shops and award-winning cuisine which makes the most of locally grown products.
The waters of the Bay of Plenty offer the ultimate marine encounter, the opportunity to swim with, or just observe, dolphins in their natural environment. Other oceanic-based activities include surfing, diving and game fishing.
White Island, an active volcanic island, lies 50 km/31 miles off the Bay of Plenty coast and can be visited by boat trip or helicopter.
